Description |
Crib quilt comprised of furnishing fabric. The front is made of two panels machine sewn together with white thread, which indicates this fabric was repurposed. The central pattern of the furnishing fabric is of an oversized peacock and floral print. The entire quilt has diamond cross-hatching. Along one side there is a 1/4" wide foldover binding from back to front, while the other three sides are butted. The rest of the quilt is handstitched with white thread and a SPI of 6-9. The back is comprised of a brown dotted cotton with a pink floral print. A muslin sleeve has been attached by museum staff for display purposes. |

The calico is from the early 19th century but there is no information about when it was constructed into a quilt. |
