Description |
Bluework quilt top comprised of a white cotton ground with blue cotton cross-stitched embroidery. The base is made of five panels of plain cotton machine sewn together, with a central motif of a floral cross design framed with a swirled border. The center section features floral quilt stitching while the 5.75" wide border has diagonal quilt stitching, all stitched by hand with white thread. There are remnants of ink marks, indicating a stencil was used. On the back there are handwritten letters near the hem of two panels that read "A" and "B" and a stamped tag that has been ironed on which reads "MRS CLARA KERN" in blue, with the location "BRADLEY HALL" handwritten in black ink. The edges have been left unfinished and there is no backing fabric attached. |
