Description |
A pair of man's pants made out of black and white striped wool twill. The pants have a three button fly plus a hook and eye at the waistband. There are six additional buttons attached to the outside of the waistband. The buttons are from the maker, which reads "SMITH GRAY & CO. NEW YORK." There are two side seam pockets, as well as a fob pocket and two slit pockets at the back. There is an additional strap and clasp at the back waist. The inside of the waistband is lined in a grey striped cotton sateen. |

Smith Gray & Company was the largest manufacturer of ready made men's and young boys clothing. They were found in 1833, and after much success during the 1880s, they went bankrupt in 1914. |
