Description |
Thisfigured and fancy coverlet has been woven into one panel using natural cotton and blue and red wool. The predominate motif is a repeated 4 x 6 framed star pattern. There is a 7.00" wide border of two birds flanking a house on the right and left edge, while the bottom edge has a 8.00" wide border of the same pattern. At each lower corner there is a 7.125" x 8.500" cornerstone that both read: "MADE BY T.WEBER. N.EMAUS. FOR MICHAEL NITRAU 1839." [The "U" in "EMAUS" is upside down]. There are several repair jobs that have been attempted using light green, pink and white silk embroidery floss. |
