At the shoulder there is a self-fabric epaulet, and the sleeves are set into the arm syce and are long and straight. The jacket has an additional two snaps at the waist, and on the proper left side there is a self-fabric tab with a clasp. There is a single patch located on the proper left sleeve, of a circle with a red and whit embroidered star and the letter "A." The jacket is lined in a forest green rayon, with a nylon braiding loop attached at the inside neck. Located underneath the loop is a size tag attached that reads "38 R." Provenance |
Made by Handmacher Vogel, Inc. but there is no additional information about the company. A style of jacket popularized in the 1930s and World War II, this "Ike" jacket would probably have been worn by soldiers during the Vietnam War. |
