Description |
A ladies shirtwaist. The shirt has a high collar, created by the attachment of a scalloped edge eyelet trim. There is a centered front button closure, comprised of five covered buttons. The placket is flanked by the same eyelet trimming on either side. The center of the shirt consists of sections of vertical pintucks flanking an applied leaf and eyelet panel. The pintucks meet horizontal pintucks at the waist, creating a grid or plaid design at the waist. The remainder of the blouse is made out of plain cotton lawn. The sleeves are long and straight and set into the arm syce. The sleeves are wider than an usual tubular sleeve, and at the cuffs there is a repeated use of the pintucks flanking the leaf eyelet panels, with an additional attachment of the collar eyelet trim. The smaller eyelet trim is also attached the waist hemline of the shirt. The shirtwaist is machine constructed with hand finishing details. |
