Description |
A woman's machine sewn jacket made of a repurposed cotton feed bag. The bag has been dyed blue but has faded, creating a lavender effect. The jacket has a folded down collar and a five button front closure (missing one button). There are also self-fabric pockets at the waist. The inside of the jacket reveals the stamping often found on feedbags, such as "NORTHWEST ALFALFA BRAND THE FINEST OF THE [illegible] REG [illegible]" and " THE FINEST OF THE CROP" and lastly "TIMOTHY." |
Provenance |
Made by Cora H. (Benfield) Hasson (1903-?), wife of Ross Hasson (1898-?). They resided in Upper Frederick Township, Montgomery County. It is likely the jacket was made for her husband. |
