Description This figured and fancy coverlet is comprised of two woven panels handstitched together, made using natural cotton and blue, green and red wool. The predominate motif is a repeated snowflake and diamond pattern. There is a 7.50" wide border of a double rose pattern on the right, left and bottom edge. The entire coverlet has white machine stitching along the edges. At each lower corner there is a 7.75" x 7.25" cornerstone, which both read: "NEW BRITAIN TOWN. BUCKS. COU. 1837. J. KINDIG."
Provenance The coverlet was woven by a J. Kindig, a weaver based out of New Britain Township, Bucks County. There is little additional information known about him.
