Description A man's shirt using a step stitch (hand stitching with counted threads) as a construction stitch in the shoulder and cuff. It is of handspun bleached plain weave linen with a high neck, an attached self-fabric collar band and a three button closure which stops at the chest. At the bottom of the placket is a panel, with the initials "F.S." embroidered in white silk. The long sleeves without gusset are set into the arm syce and have a banded cuff and a single covered button closure. At the hem there are side seam slits.
Provenance The initials pertain to the original owner, and was from Pauline Schram's husband's family.
